Have you Ever Seen Batman and NexGoal’s COO in the Same Room at the Same Time?

Cleveland, Ohio (October 5, 2015) – Batman in Vermilion, Ohio? Some witnesses claim to have seen the Batmobile in the city this past weekend and some even claim to have seen and met Batman himself. But what was Gotham’s Dark Knight doing in Northeast Ohio? And who is he?

The Caped Crusader seen in Vermilion this weekend was none other than NexGoal COO Brad Mullins as Mullins and a cast of other superheroes attended the annual Woolybear Festival in Vermilion.

Their mission wasn’t to stop crime or evil, rather their mission was to raise awareness for the non-profit organization Super Heroes to Kids in Ohio.

Super Heroes to Kids in Ohio is an NPO that looks to spread good will and kindness to those who have or are battling through adversity through the use of costumed visits or appearances. Much of these visits are to children’s hospitals and special needs centers where children are faced with terminal illnesses or crippling disabilities.

“We try to ease their pain and give the kids a day in a fantasy world with their favorite superheroes,” says Mullins. “Seeing the smile you bring to a child’s face when their favorite superhero walks through the door is truly a special moment.”

Mullins got involved after befriending Super Heroes to Kids in Ohio Executive Director Brian Chulik. “I met Brian at the gym a long time ago where I eventually learned about his NPO and I immediately asked how I could get involved.” says Mullins. “Having lost both of my parents to cancer I understand how devastating that these diseases and illnesses can be, especially for a kid. Super Heroes to Kids in Ohio has been a fantastic opportunity for me to make a difference that’s near and dear to my heart.”

Team NexGoal Joins Inaugural VeloSano Race

The VeloSano Bike to Cure is July 19-20, 2014.

The VeloSano Bike to Cure is July 19-20, 2014.

NexGoal co-owner Brad Mullins will join several other riders to form Team NexGoal as participants in the inaugural VeloSano Bike to Cure, supporting cancer research at the Cleveland Clinic.

The VeloSano (from the Latin meaning “swift” and “cure”) is modeled after the successful Pelotonia and Pan-Mass Challenge, which also benefit cancer research. Cleveland Clinic trustees Stewart A. and Donna Kohl contributed the initial $1 million dollars to establish the race in 2013.

Team NexGoal‘s members have all been touched by cancer and the money they will raise will support the basic, clinical, and translational cancer research that is done at the world renown Cleveland Clinic. 100% of all participant-raised dollars will go towards sustainable funding to support cancer research that touches cancer patients throughout northeast Ohio and the United States.

“NexGoal is proud to sponsor and participate in the VeloSano bike for cure event,” said Mullins. “We all know of someone who has suffered through or lost the battle with cancer. Both of my parents lost their lives to brain cancer so this is way for me to give back. 100% of the proceeds donated go to the Cleveland Clinic research foundation and we want to be a part of the team that can help the cause.”

The event begins Friday with the Opening Ceremony at Mall B in Cleveland, OH. Riders begin their journey Saturday, July 19 from Mall B, with several different courses available for participants. On Sunday, July 20, a day-long celebration at the Start/Finish line at Mall B will feature activities for participants and supporters alike.

Founded in 1921, the Cleveland Clinic integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education and has pioneered many medical breakthroughs. Consistently named one of U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Hospitals”, it includes 75 facilities throughout northern Ohio and locations in Florida, Nevada, Canada, and Abu Dhabi.

NexGoal Joins The Golden Flashes For Student-Athlete Career Night

NexGoal's Zack Wilhelm and Angela Berardinelli joined Kent State student-athletes in a few rounds of "speed networking" at the Student-Athlete Career Night.

NexGoal’s Zack Wilhelm and Angela Berardinelli joined Kent State student-athletes in a few rounds of “speed networking” at the Student-Athlete Career Night.

NexGoal joined the second annual Kent State Athletics Student-Athlete Career Night on February 18.

Over 80 student-athletes participated in the career fair and “speed networking” event in the ballroom at The KSU Student Center. Not only did the event afford NexGoal the opportunity to reach future athlete-candidates, but it also presented the chance to educate them on some of the basics of the job search .

“It was a great experience being able to sit down with so many collegiate athletes and talk to them about their future, and how we can help them best prepare for life after athletics,” said Wilhelm. “It was refreshing to see how many young men and women were focused on life after sports, and on becoming successful professionals.”

“Kent State’s Student-Athlete Academic Services did a great job putting this event,” added Berardinelli.  “Being a student-athlete in college is a full time job, and it is hard enough to juggle school and a sport at this level, so giving these individuals a night to start thinking about the next step in their life is important.  Many of the student-athletes were thankful to have the opportunity to put everything aside and start thinking about this next step in their life.”

NexGoal prides itself on its “athletes helping athletes” approach, and how we as former athletes who have made the transition from competition to becoming working professionals. “During the speed networking portion of the evening, Angela and I had the opportunity to educate the athletes about what sets them apart from other job seekers,” expressed Wilhelm.  “That biodata – their drive, ambition, character – all those traits that make them successful in their sport will help them be successful in their post-athletic careers and makes them attractive to potential employers.”

“It was great for us to come and talk about NexGoal as well because we relate with these individuals, and we were able to meet athletes from multiple sports and career aspirations,” said Berardinelli. “We had the opportunity to educate the individuals in regards to how to prepare themselves to land a great career once they graduate.  It was also close to home for me personally because it was not all that long ago that I was one of those student-athletes sitting on the other side of the table!”

NexGoal works with athlete-candidates to prepare them for post-athletic career by  offering assistance in several areas as well as offering a free upload of their resumes to our database for future consideration.
