Wishing all of our candidates, clients, and colleagues a Merry Christmas and all the best in 2013.
NexGoal CEO Kevin Dahl (L) talks to fellow Trilogy Mentor John Haime (R), a former tournament professional golfer about the “mental side” of the game.
NexGoal president and CEO Kevin Dahl joined a panel of former Olympians and professional athletes at the Inaugural Trilogy Mentor Conference in Toronto, Ontario. These individuals have been recognized as trailblazers who not only were accomplished athletes, but have carried that success into their business careers.
A division of remBrand Sports, this program will deliver athlete-to-athlete mentoring through a private membership organization exclusive to these executives, entrepreneurs, and community leaders. During the three-day event, mentors were coached by top leaders in business, athletic development, and transition planning on how to better understand and support elite athletes.
“Joe Jackman (founding partner of remBrand) put on a fabulous conference. I truly enjoyed learning Rembrand’s vision, and also all the insight of the athletes involved.”
Trilogy will be hosting additional Mentor Conferences in 2013. The partnership between NexGoal and remBrand Sports continues to get the most from our athlete-candidates and mold our franchises.
NexGoal has placed many qualified candidates in new positions. Project Coordinator Angela Berardinelli has executed our direct recruiting strategies and placed several athlete-candidates with our corporate clients. Her extensive research into the core traits that these candidates bring to our clients in several different industries has provided the perfect fit for both the candidates and the employers. From the initial phone call through the job offer, Berardinelli’s tenacity and dedication has helped her fellow former athletes find that new career.
DuBois Chemical is a leader in providing innovative chemical solutions to the manufacturing industry. For over 90 years the company has supplied cleaning solutions and evolved as a leader in products and applications that will further reduce environmental impact and costs to the customer. Berardinelli placed Rudy Baltjan as a regional sales representative in Knoxville, TN with DuBois after an extensive job search.
“Angela is one of the few recruiters I would say I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to work with (I’ve met, spoken with, etc. approximately 20). After a few months of hard work, communications, persistence, follow up, etc., Angela was able to finalize the job offer of a lifetime for me that I have been looking for years. I have been waiting for this kind of opportunity and Angela along with her boss, Brad Mullins, brought it to me and made it a reality. Angela, Brad, and the team of NexGoal were very professional, attentive, accommodating, and full of integrity. While many of her competition attempt to mask their own interests in their recommendations, Angela, I believe, takes the time to find a great solution for his candidates. In turn, this generates strong working relationships and ensures success. I will certainly highly recommend Angela and the NexGoal team to anybody that is been searching for their dream goal career.”
NexGoal CEO Kevin Dahl and COO Brad Mullins recently met with former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel and had the chance to discuss the transition that collegiate and professional football players face after their playing days are over.
One of the first points Tressel shared with NexGoal’s leadership was the fact that he has “over 2,500 kids that he has coached and a lot of their phone numbers are on his cell phone,” and he is there if they need his help. He said coaching doesn’t stop after they leave school, sometimes just answering that call, being an ear for them, and providing support and guidance is all they need.
A former college athlete himself (quarterback at Baldwin Wallace College) Coach Tressel noted the difference in demands on collegiate athletes between his playing days and his days at the helm of Youngstown State and Ohio State. He said most college players don’t have the opportunity to “put on a pair of work boots, or pick up a shovel and work at a summer job” because the demands of the sport are so high. Most of the players today stick around the campus for summer practice, conditioning, and work and Tressel acknowledged the difficulty in trying to find a summer job due to those time constraints.
Dahl and Mullins had the opportunity to share with Tressel the mission of NexGoal, working with former collegiate and professional athletes as they transition into careers with corporations looking to hire athletes. Coach recognized the need for this service and felt it is important to help athletes make the transition and provide a foundation that would allow them to progress in a job that fits their skill set. Additionally, Mullins shared franchising this concept, and how future NexGoal franchises “will just expand how many athletes we can help” by allowing more individuals to own their own business while still working with athletes.
The visit with Coach Tressel was a positive one – a great day with a great educator, human being, and coach.
